First and foremost we’ve updated our rules section to be more concise; these new rules should provide a clearer guideline of what we allow and do not allow on BlackOut Servers. The new rules are global across our gaming servers, forums, IRC and Steam page/chats; it’s imperative you take the time to read them and become accustomed to them. You can find a copy of the new rules here.
We’ve also decided to update our forums, the changes should make categories more apparent for their function and purpose while reducing the overall number of boards we have. This should help to clear up any confusion in relation to the purpose of a forum board, and should make it overall a more pleasant experience for you!

So once again, we are opening our metaphorical doors to new and also experienced casters and streamers also to come in and join us on our ever-growing Twitch.TV channel covering competitive TF2.

As some of you might know, we’ve had in the works a little surprise for the Versus Saxton Hale server! There’s a potential to split it into two separate servers, including one competitive and one fun server that allow players to categorize themselves where they feel they’ll fit in best! Here are some of the changes we’re thinking of making:
- 27 players
- No ‘Special Rounds’ (Bunny, Christian Brutal Sniper, Vagineer or Headless Horseman)
- No ‘Rage’ (Hale can’t taunt to stun players)
- No Engineers (To balance the above)
- No High Five/Director’s Vision
- Taunt mini-crits
- Altered map selection
But these are big changes! We don’t want to make them without thoroughly testing them, so that’s why we’ve set up a test server. It’s not publicly listed under the servers, but if you wish to participate please copy this connection information into the console:
Please note that some of the configuration files have to be set by a senior administrator, if I’m not online on the server it’s likely that these configurations haven’t been loaded! Thanks for your participation, looking forward to seeing you testing!
Creepy The Clown,
Greetings BlackOut Gaming Community,
Over the past few weeks we’ve been working hard to improve our servers, looking into all sorts of options! We’re proud to say that we’ve been going with the initiative to provide you with the best quality of gaming around, so we’ve made a few changes over the past weeks we think you’ll enjoy!
- Vote mute added to all servers via the !votemute command
- Versus Saxton Hale player count increased to 27
- Versus Saxton Hale maps have been revitalized, with both new maps and some old less favourable maps removed
- Randomizer Server stability greatly improved
- General server quality improved
We’ve also been monitoring the poll regarding the changes to the Dodgeball server, and should have revamping that with an all new game-type underway soon. We’re always keen to improve the servers and are open to suggestions on our forums.

Team Awesome (an affiliated group with BlackOut Gaming) are hosting a pyro tennis competition on Sunday the 9th of June! There are teams of three competing against one another for delicious pyro prizes, and you have the chance to get in on it! Pyro Tennis for those of you that don’t know, is where a group of pyros air blast missiles back and forth at one another until somebody loses. If you’re interested, be sure to register your team of three participants on their website.
You can find more by checking out their forums at http://www.teamawesomegaming.co.uk/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=367!
We’re pleased to announce that we’ve heard your pleas for certain features and have responded to them by implementing some new plugins.
From now on, all servers will have a ping checker and clan-tag checker, so wave good bye to that jittering scout and that untraceable pyro, and say hello to a cleaner gaming experience on BlackOut servers. The limit for the ping kicker is set at 250, so the threshold is high enough that nobody playing in Europe with sufficient connection should suffer wrongly.
We’ve also heard several player’s pleas about some of the VIP functions on Orange, and have now deactivated some of the less favourable features such as the respawning health drop function. You will however, still benefit from VIP with slot reservations; VIP will continue to function as normal across all other servers.
There have also been a number of other incremental updates to enhance your gameplay on BlackOut Gaming servers. If you would like to make a suggestion, post it up on our forums here: http://forums.blackoutgaming.org/forumdisplay.php?38-Suggestions-Improvements!
The BlackOut Gaming Team
We’ve implemented key donations for VIP now. We will only accept TF2 keys, aka the type you buy in the Mann Co Store.
The prices are the same as if you were to donate using money;
4 Keys = One month
7 Keys = Two months
10 Keys = Three months
Please contact Mikey (me, and me only) and make sure to check that the player you are trading with is an administrator of this group and a member of the BlackOut Gaming Clangroup.
